Melanie Trueman was born and raised in Florida. Her biggest fear is bugs and her hobbies include cooking and taking her kids to soccer. She went to USF St. Pete and got a degree in Elementary and ESE Education. Her family has been very supportive throughout her life and provided for her with whatever she needed throughout her collide years. She has worked other jobs in doctors offices and daycares, and she is currently working here at Fivay as a Falcon Friends teacher, teaching children with autism. Trueman has previously thought about being a physical therapist but decided that teaching was a more logical choice for her because she has always enjoyed working with children. She has been working as a teacher for five years. When she first started teaching students with autism she struggled with getting to know her students. She now knows what her students need and how to talk to them. She has a way with the students and was described as a “child whisperer” by one of her colleagues.

“I hope that I help [my students] to stay focused and calm, and to reach their full potential. ”

— Melanie Trueman

She advises students to be true to themselves and to not take life too seriously
