On Friday, October 12th, Fivay’s football team played the Gulf Buccaneers for Fivay’s Homecoming game. Fivay took the lead in the first quarter, starting the score at 7-0. Fivay scored once again in the second quarter and continued to keep the lead in the first half, 14-0. During halftime, Fivay’s homecoming court walked across the field, and the queen and king were announced. The queen was Christina Iovino and the king was Deviante Armstead. Following court, the game continued!

As the game started back up, everyone was ready to see Fivay take home the win! By the end of the third quarter Fivay was up 21-0. At the start of the 4th quarter, Fivay scored again, taking the score to 28-0. Not too much longer, and a Buccaneer scored, putting the Bucs on the scoreboard. Then tragedy struck on the field. A Fivay athlete had to be Bayflighted to a hospital, after a fall. The coaches were quick to help, and the spectators watched, praying that the athlete was okay. The game continued once he was lifted, and Fivay scored the final touchdown of the game, finally ending the game on a 34-0 score.

Coach Durchik explained “Our defense played outstanding, with many tackles for loss, 5 sacks, and two fumble recoveries. The Buccaneers put a lot of pressure on our quarterback. Offensively we played very well. The Buccaneers did things defensively that we weren’t expecting, but we adjusted quickly and it worked well!”

The coach was very proud of the team, saying they played with passion and determination that he expects to see continued throughout the end of the season.
